The 8554B RF Section Plug-In covers the frequency range of 100kHz to 1250MHz.
Fifteen calibrated scan widths from 100MHz/div to 2kHz/div in a 1,2,5 sequence;
preset automatically selects 300kHz bandwidth IF filter. Resolution bandwidths
(IF) of 0.1 to 300kHz provided in a 1,3,10 sequence with accuracy of 3dB points
calibrated to ±20% (10kHz bandwidth ±5%). Log amplitude range of -122 to +10
dBm; linear from 0.1 µV/div to 100 mV/div in a 1,2 sequence on an 8
division display. Dynamic range average noise level of less than -102 dBm with
10kHz IF bandwidth.

The 8554B spectrum Analyzer RF Section covers the frequency range from 100kHz to 1250MHz. This board frequency coverage allows analysis from baseband through UHF navigation bands. Absolute amplitude calibration is maintained over the entire range. Some typical applications include power and frequency measurements on modulation, distortion and spurious outputs, frequency response measurements of filters, amplifiers, modulators and mixers. The analyzer can also be used to make noise measurements such as noise power density over a specified frequency band, carrier-to-noise ratio or swept noise figure measurement of amplifiers. With a calibrated antenna or current probe the analyzer can characterize broadband and narrowband signals encountered in EMI applications.The HP 8555A RF Tuning Section Plug-in is the top-end tuning section for Hewlett-Packard's high performance modular Spectrum Analyzer family. When added to a system package, it will offer absolute amplitude calibration capabilities from -125dBm to +10dBm over a frequency range of 10MHz to 18GHz with fundamental and harmonic mixing. Optional mixers can extend its frequency coverage to 40 GHz. These high resolution measurements are made possible in part by the Hewlett Packard 8555A's automatic tuning stabilization (phase-lock) feature, which allows for narrow frequency range scanning with a minimum of display jitter.
